The late August Ohst immigrated to the United States c. 1900 from Switzerland and setteled in Alma, Kansas. He is also known for painting Victorian designs on the ceiling of the home of D.R. & E.W. Bruman/Schroeder. His paintings are also on display in the Wabaunsee County Historical Museum.
